Black Hills Workshop and Black Hills Workshop Foundation are so much more than each name implies. That’s why, after much discussion with many stakeholders and staff, the operating and foundation boards decided to change our names in order to more closely reflect who we are, what we do, and what we are becoming.

Thus the new names of Black Hills Works and Black Hills Works Foundation are now in effect!

The word “works” was chosen because it will stand the test of time and has many positive connotations. Along with employment, a basic part of the community participation we seek for those we serve, “works” also connotates success, as in, “the plan works.” It also implies a wide range of choices, as in “we got the works.”

A wide range of choices for the people we serve is truly what both organizations are all about. Our days as merely a sheltered “works” are long over. We truly are focused on “creating a community where everyone participates to achieve a life of full potential”.  The new names of Black Hills Works and Black Hills Works Foundation reflect this mission.

Please contact JoAnne Schriver at the Foundation if you wish to discuss our dropping the "hop" in more depth at joannes@bhws.com or dial 605 718-6204.
