Black Hills Workshop works to ensure a healthy life-style and the best possible health for each person served. The nursing staff provide education on health issues; maintain health records; utilize other community health practitioners; ensure that routine examinations are received; and assist with medical emergencies. The nursing department also provides training to agency employees on a variety of preventative health issues. Personal health care is offered to people with more severe disabilities. Personal hygiene, dental care, feeding assistance, and other forms of care are a main concern and not always are all these needs completely met by their funding sources.
We recently lost a Nurse Supervisor named Doree Alexander who had been a dedicated advocate and care giver to those we serve for over 23 years. Doree always believed in maintaining the absolute highest standards of nursing care, and passed on this knowledge and experience to a new generation as a teacher and mentor to many nursing students. She was an inspiration to fellow co-workers and especially adored by those she cared for and served. In her honor and memory we have named the Medical Needs Fund the "Doree" Medical Needs Program
A donation to the "Doree" Medical Needs Program will help the Black Hills Workshop Foundation to bridge the gap for each person served.
